Making Changes
You may reschedule your appointment within the same testing window to a new date or change your test location. However, you must reschedule at least one full business day (24 hours) prior to your scheduled appointment (Saturday and Sunday are not considered business days).
You can reschedule with Pearson VUE by logging into your account at www.pearsonvue.com/afp, or over the phone at 866.837.8287. If you call, please be sure to mentioned you are calling regarding your exam sponsored by the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP). If you do not receive a confirmation email, you did not complete the process of rescheduling your appointment. Leaving a message on an answering machine is NOT an acceptable method of canceling or rescheduling your appointment to test.
If you miss your appointment, cancel too late, or arrive too late (30 minutes past your scheduled exam appointment), you will be considered a "no-show" candidate. In this event, you will not be allowed to reschedule your exam within the current testing window, you will forfeit your examination fee, and you must remit the $340 re-registration and "no-show" fee for another testing window.
If you choose not to sit for the examination during your approved testing window, then there are two options to register for a different testing window, Re-Registration or Deferral.
Re-Registration: In the event that you choose not to sit for the exam during your approved testing window, you will forfeit your registration fees and be required to pay the $250 re-registration fee to sit in a later test window. Re-Registration is only allowed for candidates who are within six testing windows from their original application. Please note: Whether a candidate chooses to take the exam and does not pass or decides not to take the exam during the window selected, the fee to re-register and take the exam in a future window is the same.
Deferral: Under special circumstances (i.e., medical or personal emergency), AFP may allow a deferral from the current testing window to the next testing window with no additional fee. An event that can be anticipated is not considered an emergency. A candidate's inability to take the exam due to work commitments or insufficient or inappropriate preparation is not considered an emergency. Special circumstances must either immediately precede or coincide with the administration of the exam. All such circumstances must include supporting documentation. In either case, if you decide not to take the exam during your approved testing window, you are required to cancel your appointment with Pearson VUE at least one full business day (24 hours) in advance to your scheduled appointment time (Saturday and Sunday are not considered business days). If you cancel after that deadline, you will be required to remit an $90 USD "No Show" fee.

Cancellations and Refunds
To cancel an exam registration in its entirety and receive a refund you must submit a formal cancellation request to AFP. The cancellation deadline to receive a refund is always two weeks before a testing window opens. You can not cancel and receive a refund after your approved testing window has begun.
