I’ve been a CTP for three years now. It's been very exciting for me. Great for my career. I started my career with a small bank that did not have a strong treasury presence in the community so they were not aware of AFP.

As I continued to network with other treasury professionals in the area, I was introduced to my regional association, Rocky Mountain Association for Financial Professionals (RMAFP) and naturally to AFP and the CTP designation.

The CTP designation raises your “status” amongst your colleagues and peers as you are recognized as someone that truly has industry expertise. Not only that, it also gains respect when you are meeting with practitioner prospects, showing them that you understand their “language”. I now manage a treasury sales group and always seek treasury professionals that have the CTP designation.

I will always be an advocate of AFP and RMAFP (now serving as the current President) as the advancement of the treasury profession is very important to me!
